Peace pole dedication Thursday in Buffalo Grove

The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove will host a dedication ceremony Thursday for a new Peace Pole monument to be installed at the Ernie Karge Rotary Village Green in Buffalo Grove.

The pole is a monument that displays the message “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in the language of the country where it is placed, as well as three to seven additional languages meaningful to the host site. They’re intended to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

The event is set to begin at 12:15 p.m. at the park, 265 N. Buffalo Grove Road. Speakers will include Buffalo Grove Village President Eric Smith, Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove President Jason Davis, state Sen. Adriane Johnson and Rotary District 6440 Governor Elect Mariana Alfar.

Parking is available behind the Buffalo Grove Post Office, 255 N. Buffalo Grove Road.
