Everdine’s Grilled Cheese in Batavia announces closure

Two months after closing their Naperville location, the owners of Everdine’s Grilled Cheese announced on social media Tuesday that their Batavia restaurant would close permanently this weekend.

“I have been dreading writing this post, but with a heavy heart, I need to let everyone know that Everdine's in Batavia will be closing,” the post reads. “As my family and I prepare for an international move, we've had to make the tough decision to close our doors.”

Owners Kelly and Brian Herkert opened their first location in Naperville in 2016. The Batavia location opened at 227 W. Wilson St. in January 2025.

Their last day for business will be Sunday, Sept. 27.

“Having this restaurant in Batavia has been such a wonderful experience. It's been so refreshing to work with a city that truly cares about its small businesses and residents,” the post reads. “Thank you for all the support you've shown us throughout our long construction process and time in business. Our Batavia customers have been some of the kindest people I have ever met. Thank you for loving our restaurant and our staff.”
