Algonquin Kite Festival soars into Spella Park Sept. 27

Enjoy an afternoon of colorful kites, outdoor activities, and family fun at the annual Algonquin Kite Festival on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spella Park, 2610 Harnish Drive.

Hosted by village of Algonquin in partnership with Chicago Kite and the Algonquin Area Public Library District, the event will feature professional stunt kite demonstrations, giant show kite displays, a designated area for attendees to fly their own kites, and activities for children.

The first 250 children to attend the festival will receive a free paper kite to decorate and fly, while supplies last. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own kites, and kites will be available for purchase at the event.

Food will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs and spend the day enjoying the activities and kite displays throughout Spella Park.
