We must speak out to end suffering in Gaza

I am a Geneva resident, and I have gotten to the point where I can't keep watching what is happening to civilians in Gaza and just say nothing.

I am not an expert on the Middle East, and I know the history and politics are complicated. But I don't think you have to be an expert to look at the suffering of ordinary people, especially children, and know that it is horrifying.

I believe what we are witnessing in Gaza is genocide, and I don't want to look back years from now and know that I stayed silent while it was happening.

I want our elected officials to use the influence of the United States to push for the protection of civilians, for humanitarian aid to get through, and for U.S. support to comply with U.S. and international humanitarian law.

I know I am only one person, and sometimes it feels like one voice doesn't matter much. But silence is still a choice, and I don't want mine to be silent.

So I am speaking up.
