Pocketbook questions on the ballot

School districts and other government entities across Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake counties have placed questions on the November ballot to seek voter approval for property tax increases and borrowing authority.

The list of questions on the ballot include:

Cook County

• Should Northwest Suburban High School District 214 borrow $295 million to alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities?

• Should Prospect Heights Elementary District 23 increase its tax rate to help pay for educational programming and instruction and operating, maintaining, improving and constructing school buildings and facilities?

• Should Elk Grove Township levy an annual tax to establish and fund a 708 Community Mental Health Board?

• Should the Bartlett Public Library District borrow $22.2 million to remodel the existing library and build an addition?

• Should the Bartlett Public Library District borrow $45 million to construct a new library building and demolish the existing library building?

DuPage County

• Should Downers Grove Township impose an annual tax to establish and fund a 708 Community Mental Health Board?

• Should the Lisle Park District borrow $29.75 million to build and equip a new Community Activity Center?

• Should the Roselle Fire Protection District increase its tax rate to help pay for fire protection and ambulance service?

• Should School District 45 increase its tax rate for school purposes, including funding instructional programming, student support and services, operations and maintenance, and safety and security improvements?

• Should DuPage High School District 88 borrow $118 million to improve the sites of, and alter, repair, and equip school buildings and facilities?

Kane County

• Should Community Unit District 300 borrow $355.5 million to build and equip additions to and alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities?

• Should St. Charles Unit School District 303 borrow $282.5 million to improve the sites of, build and equip additions to and alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities?

• Should the East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District borrow $3.5 million to address its long-term financial and capital needs?

• Should the East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District establish an additional tax for emergency and rescue crews and equipment purposes?

Lake County

• Should Lake County impose a 1% sales tax to raise money for school facility purposes, school resource officers and mental health professionals?

• Should Lake Zurich borrow $20.3 million to build and equip a new fire station to replace Station 1?

• Should the Vernon Area Public Library District borrow $39.5 million to repair, remodel, improve and build an addition to an existing library building?

• Should Antioch Township increase its tax rate to help pay for operations?

• Should Fox Lake Fire Protection District establish an additional tax for firefighters' pension purposes?
