Milkmen take control of playoff series with Game 3 shutout of Kane County Cougars

The Milwaukee Milkmen took a 2-1 lead in the East Division Championship Series Thursday with a 3-0 victory over the Kane County Cougars at Franklin Field. The Milkmen are one win away from ending the Cougars’ season.

Juan Diaz and the Milwaukee pitching staff once again kept the Cougars off the scoreboard, following Tuesday’s 13-0 shutout with another dominant performance. Diaz tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out seven. Kane County managed seven hits, but struggled to capitalize on its limited opportunities.

Kane County had one final opportunity in the ninth when Jairus Richards led off with a single against Ryan Boyer. But Boyer recorded a strikeout and a groundout before striking out Sam Dexter to end the game and earn his second save of the postseason.

With the Milkmen now leading the series 2-1, the Cougars must win the next two games to advance to the Miles Wolff Cup Championship Series. The Cougars will continue their best-of-five series with the Milkmen on Fridayat Franklin Field in Franklin, Wisconsin.
