Buffalo Grove (3-1, 0-0) at Hersey (4-0, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Buffalo Grove dropped its first game of the season last week. But the Bison still has plenty of firepower thanks to the running of Matthew Kaput who has 565 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Quarterback Nathan Raef has thrown for 598 yards and six touchdowns with Matthew Hong at the receiving end for 278 yards and three touchdowns. But while the Bison offense has been very good, Hersey’s has been superb thus far, averaging 42 points and 466 yards per game. Jake Nawrot has thrown for 1,112 yards with 14 touchdown passes. And the Kentucky commit has spread the ball out equally with Josh Riggs (401 yards, six touchdowns), Jaxson St. Paul (203 yards, six touchdowns) and Dom Wentink (230 yards) each with 16 receptions. Sophomore running back Jackson Travis has been a pleasant surprise, running for 493 yards and seven touchdowns.
Prospect (4-0, 0-0) at Elk Grove (2-2, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Prospect is coming off a huge win thanks to its solid offense which is averaging 39 points and 388 yards a game. Jackson Cacini has done a great job at quarterback, throwing for 861 yards and seven touchdowns while completing just under 70% of his passes. Matthew Donnelly has piled up 545 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while adding another 198 yards and two touchdowns in receiving. Gordon Kemp already has 267 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Caden Moore has been a ballhawk. He had three interceptions last week, including a pair in the endzone. He has four picks this season. Colin Fouch, Ryland Contreras, Evan Sohl and Moore help lead a defense that has allowed just 13 points per game. Elk Grove started out the season with wins in its first two games. But the Grenadiers have stumbled the past two weeks and are looking to turn things around. Luke Maher has thrown the ball well, completing 56% of his passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns. Eric Sandoval has rushed for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Bruford, Ben Logsdon, Griffin Ewen and Danniell Hallilovic lead a defense that has allowed 15.5 points per game.
Wheeling (0-4, 0-0) at Rolling Meadows (1-3, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Schaumburg 30, Wheeling 7; Palatine 28, Rolling Meadows 21
Last year: Rolling Meadows 63, Wheeling 0
Outlook: It all starts on defense as Wheeling took a major step forward last week. Led by Bennett Rasar, Joshue LeBlanc, Evan Watanuki, Brayan Salgado and Alex Mitroi, Wheeling surrendered its lowest point total in over a year while forcing two turnovers. That defense will be tested this week by running back Luke Harvey, a senior who has rushed for 538 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass from Gavin Prickett, who has stepped into the quarterback role quite nicely the past couple of weeks.
Hoffman Estates (2-2, 0-0) at Barrington (0-4, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Hoffman Estates 35, Elk Grove 15; Hersey 38, Barrington 7
Last year: Barrington 38, Hoffman Estates 19
Outlook: Hoffman has won its last two games. And it’s no coincidence that during that span, the Hawks have leaned heavily on Riley Lennert. The junior has emerged in the last two weeks, rushing for 469 of his 502 yards this season. He also scored five of his six touchdowns. According to MSL historian Marty Maciaszek, Barrington is 0-4 for the first time since 1947. It has been a rough start for Barrington with a combination of a brutal schedule, injuries — especially at quarterback and running back — and an offense that has never seemed to get its feet under it. Barrington opponents are a combined 14-2. The Broncos have used four quarterbacks this season and have yet to throw a touchdown pass. Meanwhile Lamar Osterhues has been slowed by an injury. He has rushed for 225 yards and one touchdown this season.
Palatine (2-2, 0-0) at Conant (4-0, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Palatine 28, Rolling Meadows 21; Conant 37, Buffalo Grove 22
Last year: Palatine 35, Conant 7
Outlook: Palatine has been in a one-score game all four weeks. The Pirates broke a two-game losing streak last week, getting a huge game from Jayden Evans. He rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Martino has thrown for 641 yards and four touchdowns. Conant is 4-0 for the first time since 2019. The Cougars running machine has been churning out yardage and chewing up time in huge chunks which has kept opponents on their heels. Led by Jackson Spizzirri (50 carries, 418 yards), Anthony Burns (35 carries, 278 yards) and Ivan Haralanov (29 carries, 253 yards), the Cougars are averaging 41 running plays and 282 rushing yards per game.
Fremd (3-1, 0-0) at Schaumburg (1-3, 0-0)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Prospect 35, Fremd 21; Schaumburg 30, Wheeling 7
Last year: Fremd 41, Schaumburg 7
Outlook: Fremd dropped its first game last week, with key turnovers one of the culprits. Still, the Vikings have played good football thus far, averaging 375 yards per game. Will Clark has thrown for 917 yards and three touchdowns with Carter McDonald (19 catches, 423 yards) and Ben Riddle (12 catches, 219 yards) his favorite targets. Raizo Ruiz (195 yards) and Jayden Faulkner (191 yards) have been major factors in the running attack. Schaumburg picked up its first win last week. The Saxons have leaned heavily on the passing of Dylan Ramirez, who is coming off of a two-touchdown performance. Both of those scoring passes went to Mason Heydecker, who along with Tommy Poldek have been the top go-to guys. Vinny Cretsinger emerged last week as force in the backfield with his 130-yard performance.
Maine South (3-1) at Deerfield (3-1)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Maine South 35, New Trier 28; Deerfield 38, Maine West 26
Last year: Maine South 56, Deerfield 14
Outlook: Both teams are 3-1 but have played far different types of opponents. Maine South has victories over Warren, Maine West and New Trier and a loss to Batavia. Deerfield beat Lake Forest, Niles West and Maine West and lost to Buffalo Grove. In the Maine South win over Maine West, quarterback Jameson Purcell barely played one quarter in a 41-7 win. Purcell, who has thrown for 862 yards and nine touchdowns, along with Matt Schlenhardt, Payton Donaldson, Keaton Vitel and Elliott Arteta, have the Hawks averaging 41 points per game.
Maine East (0-4, 0-0) at Maine West (0-4, 0-0)
When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Last week: Highland Park 49, Maine East 7; Deerfield 38, Maine West 26
Last year: Maine West 49, Maine East 0
Outlook: Both teams are off to rough starts. Maine East sophomore quarterback Ryan Smith threw for 64 yards and a touchdown to Peter Khamo last week. Maine West fell behind 32-0 last week before roaring back. Wide receiver Davion Tate has been dangerous, especially in the open field. Angelo De La Torre also helped Maine West show some life with a pair of touchdown runs while Ryan Cooper continues to improve at quarterback.
St. Viator (0-4) at DePaul Prep (2-2)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Leo 40, St. Viator 8; IC Prep 33, DePaul 7
Last year: DePaul 36, St. Viator 7
Outlook: While St. Viator is looking at building a new stadium complex on its campus, the Viator community can get a solid look at what DePaul has done completing its new facility in Chicago. St. Viator’s Bryson Jackson caught a touchdown pass from Dylan Molina last week.
Leyden (1-3, 0-1) at Proviso East (1-3, 1-1)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Last week: York 55, Leyden 0; Morton 41, Proviso East 20
Last year: Leyden 40, Proviso East 0
Outlook: Leyden is looking to get its offense back on track after scoring just nine points in the last three games, getting shut out twice. This could be a perfect opportunity against a Proviso East team that has surrendered over 40 points in each of its losses.
Wauconda (4-0, 2-0) at Grayslake North (4-0, 2-0)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Wauconda 49, North Chicago 8; Grayslake North 29, Round Lake 27
Last year: Wauconda 45, Grayslake North 13
Outlook: North went 1-8 last year and is off to an impressive start. Through four games, the Knights have given up one quarterback sack and are a plus-six in the turnover battle. A balanced North offense features quarterback Jaylen Newkirk (637 passing yards, nine TDs, 188 rushing yards, five touchdowns), along with running backs Jay Kelly (403 yards, three touchdowns) and Beckett Dovel (226 yards, three touchdowns). Newkirk throws to the likes of slot Luc Woyat (183 yards, two touchdowns) and wideout Alejandro Romero (142 yards, two touchdowns). Those six players listed above are all juniors. Linebacker Riley Nelson (four tackles for loss, one sack, one pick, one fumble recovery), Dovel (27 tackles) and linebacker Guillermo Ruiz (3 tackles for loss) lead the defense. Coach Brian Johnson said junior Seevar Adzhir’s off-season work has helped him get off to a great start at offensive tackle, while sophomore Greg Harger also has been key on the offensive line. Defending Northern Lake County champion Wauconda was active on defense in last week's win with Brody Rudolph (eight tackles), Colton Zak (one tackle for loss, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery) and Finn Loomis (two tackles for loss, one sack) leading the way. Cooper Karaszewski (539 passing yards, five TDs), Brody Rudolph (six TDs), Brian Hart (five TDs) and Luke Sickmeir (five TDs) continue to lead the way offensively … Sickmeir has 3 interception on defense, while Cashton Silton (33 tackles), Zak (2.5 sacks) and Brody Drozd (3.5 sacks, four tackles for loss) also have been key. Kelsey Funkhouser has kicked 15 extra points in four games … Coach Chris Prostka said defensive tackle Khamryn Brown hustles to the ball on every play and continues to add more skill and technique to go along with his incredible effort, while Zak is another high-energy, physical player (second on the team in sacks).
Carmel Catholic (2-2) at Montini Catholic (3-1)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m., Montini Catholic, Lombard

Outlook: Another lengthy road trip for the Class 6A state No. 8 Corsairs, who encounter a Montini team that is ranked No. 2 in the most recent Class 4A state poll by Illinois Media. Carmel defensive coordinator Billy Moore was impressed with the defensive line effort against Class 5A state No. 1 Providence where Noah Breckenridge and Kristian Chadick each had seven tackles, while Jameer Miles led with eight tackles and a consistent Anthony Ingolia had seven tackles (one for loss)… Breckenridge leads the team with 30 tackles. “Noah is a lunch-pail kid who doesn’t run away from work and consistently does what coaches ask him to do,” Moore said. Moore said Power 4 offensive line recruit Wyatt VanBoening is getting back to 100% and it’s showing on the field… Moore added senior corner Lucas Gonzalez is making the most of his opportunities on special teams and defense. …. Freshmen Alex Wheaton and Isaiah Rubo are players who may start making contributions at the varsity level. Montini is led by quarterback Israel Abrams, who accounted for all seven of the team’s touchdowns in last week’s win over Nazareth (four passing, three rushing). Coach Mike Bukovsky said the Broncos’ wide receiver core is the strongest he’s seen in the program, while linebackers Ben Evenson, Orlando Greco and Johnny Louise along with defensive linemen Blake Pohlman and Andrew Ayala also have excelled. Bukovsky also lauded the efforts of offensive lineman Gavin Ericsson-Staton, who has been receiving more defensive reps.
Stevenson (0-4, 0-2) at Mundelein (3-1, 1-1)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: Stevenson looks to get into the win column in this road North Suburban contest. Tyler Becker (nine tackles), Duncan Suren (seven tackles), Matthew Ravencraft (seven tackles), Mlakhai Agee (seven carries, 93 yards, one TD) and Brandon Hersh (six catches, 128 yards, one TD) starred in last week’s game against Zion, while Connor Kenning (four tackles for loss, two sacks, three hurries), Agee (35 tackles), Eli Sigal (640 passing yards, five TDs), Agee (6.8 yards per carry) and Hersh (21 catches, 335 yards, three TDs) are key season stat leaders for the Patriots. Mundelein coach Johnny Cowhey has been pleased with the play of linemen Reyes Zepeda (team-leading six tackles for loss) and Randy Heistand (4 tackles for loss). “Reyes starts both ways for us (RG and DE) and we ask a lot of him,” he said. “Randy is in his first year starting (DE) and is a huge energy player for us.” Cameron Earing (249 rushing yards, three touchdowns, 97 receiving yards, two touchdowns), Tyler Johnson (three passing TDs), Jackson Rejcyzk (13.2 yards per catch) and Sladen Poutre (209 rushing yards, five touchdowns) have been key on offense, while Dylan Leipold, Urijah Willoughby, Ashton Saluki and Chris Roi have been key contributors defensively. Maddox Solum and Kolton Sydanmaa each had 10 tackles against Warren last week.
Zion-Benton (4-0, 2-0) at Lake Zurich (2-2, 2-0)
Last week: Zion 42, Stevenson 23, Lake Zurich 51, Waukegan 0
Last year: Lake Zurich 31, Zion 0
Outlook: The winner here maintains no worse than a share of first in the North Suburban in the early going. Zion has qualified for the state playoffs with four victories. The Zee Bees’ first four opponents have a combined 1-15 record. Lake Zurich was 0-2 and now finds itself in the thick of an early conference race. “We are steadily improving,” Lake Zurich coach Dragan Teonic said. “Youth is sometimes an excuse, but our team embraced it and the group is fun to work with because we have not reached our potential yet.” Teonic said Rocco DiCanio is playing well on both sides of the ball, while Frank Arnieri is excelling on the defensive line. Joey Wessman (two scores), Adrian Stanek and Benji Ferguson had touchdowns in last week’s win.
Waukegan (0-4, 0-2) at Libertyville (2-2, 2-0)
When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Libertyville 40, Lake Forest 26; Lake Zurich 51, Waukegan 0

Outlook: Libertyville, winners of two in a row, sits in a three-way tie with Zion and Lake Zurich for the top spot in the North Suburban. “I have been very impressed with how we have improved every week and how we have handled adversity throughout the season,” said Wildcats coach Tim Budge, pointing out an overtime loss to Naperville North, a lightning-induced game suspension against Warren and battling a Lake Forest team that fought hard. Budge said Colten Siebert and Aleks Nikolich are playing well on both sides of the line. Brock Williams (three TDs), Kaden Butt, Lukas Melton and Charles Paden (two TDs) each have more than 100 receiving yards, while Butt leads the team with three tackles for loss and two sacks. Waukegan has scored 18 points in its first four games.
Antioch (4-0, 2-0) at Round Lake (2-2, 0-2)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Antioch 76, Grayslake Central 21; Grayslake North 29, Round Lake 27
Last year: Antioch 70, Round Lake 12
Outlook: Class 5A state No. 9 Antioch has scored 178 points in four games and has scored 30 or more points in each game. The Sequoits also sit at a plus-seven in turnover ratio. “That’s a big reason we are 4-0,” Antioch coach Brian Glashagel said. Glashagel called defensive lineman Willie Hamilton won of the best DLs in the county. Center Giulian Santoyo also has been key. Gavin Stone has rushed for 743 yards on 73 carries with 14 touchdowns. He’s averaging 10.2 yards per carry and 186 rushing yards per game. Antioch as a team averages 9.1 yards per carry. Three of Round Lake’s first four games have been decided by four or less points. Coach Randi Dey noted Deshaun Jackson has continued to be someone on the defensive line Round Lake can rely on, while Ronald Gordon has been outstanding on the offensive line. Evan West has thrown for 1,023 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Devin Powell has 32 catches for 622 yards and six scores. Dylan Wright leads the team in tackles with 31 (2.5 sacks), while Tyree Henderson has three sacks.
Grant Community (2-2, 1-1) at North Chicago (1-3, 0-2)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Grant 32, Lakes 29; Wauconda 49, North Chicago 8
Last year: Grant 41, North Chicago 18
Outlook: Doltyn Longtin has rushed for 450 yards and has eight touchdowns for Grant. Junior running back Jackson Fudala had 98 total yards and a score last week, while junior running back Michael Potempa had 89 total yards. Senior Luke Youngberg and junior Jonathan Mason were cited by coach Tim Norwood for strong offensive guard play. “Both have been leaders in our rushing attack,” he said.
Grayslake Central (2-2, 1-1) at Lakes (1-3, 0-2)
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Last week: Antioch 76, Central 21; Grant 32, Lakes 29
Last year: Lakes 21, Central 20
Outlook: Ray Ray Wright (117 yards) had a 95-yard touchdown run against Antioch last week (137 total scrimmage yards), while Ken-Ye Pendleton had 130 all-purpose yards (51 rushing, 79 kickoff return). Grayson Aliff (133 passing yards, two touchdowns), Andy Monsanto (68 receiving yards) and Jayden Musial (45 receiving yards, one touchdown) also contributed. Rams coach Brent Pitt said linemen Jacub Heuser and Jack Patton have stood out.
Fenwick (3-1) at St. Francis (1-3)
When: Friday 7:30 p.m.
Last week: St. Ignatius 30, Fenwick 20; St. Rita 28, St. Francis 12
Outlook: This is a battle between defending state champions — Fenwick in Class 6A, and St. Francis in 5A. The Friars’ three-game winning streak ended last weekend against St. Ignatius, as they fell behind 10-0 after one quarter. Quarterback Myles Hill tossed a touchdown pass to Noah Marshall, while rushing for a late score. The Spartans dropped a grudge match with St. Rita last weekend despite Jadon Wilson’s 45-yard touchdown pass to Noah Turner. Wilson added a 13-yard rushing touchdown. Senior tailback Tivias Caldwell averages 60 rushing yards per game with a pair of touchdowns, while the defense features senior linebackers Peyton Shipley (10 tackles per game) and Tyler Harris (nine tackles per game). With perennial powers Nazareth and Montini still on the schedule, St. Francis could sorely need a win.
Loyola Academy (4-0) at Benet Academy (2-2)
Where: Benedictine University
When: Saturday 2 p.m.
Last week: Loyola Academy 27, Brother Rice 24; Niles Notre Dame 30, Benet 25
Outlook: Loyola rallied for victory over Brother Rice last week on a deep touchdown pass from Matthew Lee to Joe Haughey with 1:10 remaining. The top-ranked Class 8A team in the state, Loyola captured three consecutive state championships from 2022-2024. Benet junior quarterback Alex Mitchell tossed a touchdown pass to Luca Diomede in the Redwings’ narrow loss to Niles Notre Dame.
Leo (3-1) at IC Catholic Prep (4-0)
When: Friday 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Leo 40, St. Viator 8; IC Catholic Prep 33, DePaul College Prep 7
Outlook: Sophomore tailback Jakobe Baldwin rushed for 134 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns as the Knights remained unbeaten with last week’s win over DePaul College Prep. Senior quarterback Nate Lang completed 16 of 20 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, while junior two-way standout Grant Bowen caught seven passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. Senior receiver/defensive back Quai McGee also caught a touchdown pass for the state’s second-ranked Class 3A squad. The Lions jumped out to a 34-0 lead over St. Viator after three quarters behind sophomore quarterback Terrence Wilson. Junior linebacker Robert Cunningham III anchors Leo’s defense.
St. Edward (2-2, 1-1) at Wheaton Academy (4-0, 2-0)
When: Friday 7:30 p.m.
Last week: St. Edward 40, Christ the King 20; Wheaton Academy 35, Marian Central Catholic 8
Last year: Wheaton Academy 48, St. Edward 0
Outlook: After posting just one victory from 2023-2025, St. Edward has shown big-time improvement this season under the direction of first-year coach David Archibald. Last weekend, St. Edward scored 40 points while capturing its first Chicagoland Christian Conference victory. Junior two-way threat Jake Linkowski had three quarterback keepers for touchdowns, while Harper Welsh added a pair of rushing scores against Christ the King. Wheaton Academy matched last year’s win total with last weekend’s victory. Quarterback Colton Miller tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another, while senior Logan Oros paced the defense with a pair of sacks. Ethan Brooks, Hudsen Hall, and Charlie Silas add depth for a stingy defense that has allowed 45 points.
St. Charles East (3-1, 1-1) at Wheaton North (4-0, 2-0)
When: Friday 7 p.m.
Last week: St. Charles East 22, Glenbard North 21 OT; Wheaton North 34, St. Charles North 17
Last year: St. Charles East 24, Wheaton North 20
Outlook: The Saints have enjoyed a resurgence through the first four weeks, highlighted by last weekend’s come-from-behind overtime victory over Glenbard North. “I’m so excited to see what we can do next game and moving forward,” said senior tailback Johnny Solano, who carried the ball 18 times for 76 yards, including the game-winning, two-point conversion. Junior tailback Rowan Slovick added a three-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal in the extra session last week. Junior quarterback Cruz Herrera completed 12 of 22 passes for 127 yards and a 14-yard touchdown pass to Christian Hirniak, while also delivering several quality punts last weekend, including handling an errant snap and getting off a 36-yarder from inside the Saints’ 20. Defensively, the Saints received solid efforts from linemen Hazen Murray, Grayson Caine and Dane Meyer, linebackers Bryan Jordan, Luciano Litro and Logan Denk, and back Luka Sarich. Off to their first 4-0 start since 2012, the Falcons already have surpassed last year’s win total (3-6 finish). Senior tailback Mac Murray, who rushed for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 24 carries against St. Charles North, and 6-foot-5 receiver Adam Schilling, who caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Burke Neibch, lead the attack. Senior middle linebacker Sam Bellini anchors the Falcons’ defense. A year ago, the Saints earned their lone win against Wheaton North.
Wheaton Warrenville South (2-2, 1-1) at Glenbard North (2-2, 0-2)
When: Friday 7 p.m.
Last week: Geneva 28, WW South 26; St. Charles East 22, Glenbard North 21 OT
Last year: Wheaton Warrenville South 35, Glenbard North 28
Outlook: The Tigers’ “never-say-die” approach almost paid off last week, as they rallied from a 28-7 fourth-quarter deficit with three touchdowns in the final three minutes before a potential game-tying two-point pass ended with an interception. Junior quarterback AJ Rogers completed 41 of 55 passes for 481 yards and touchdowns to Blake Ittersagen (nine catches, 118 yards), Steven Harvey, and Mason Bachara. Tight end Jacob Bellows is another big target for Rogers, while junior tailback Trent Simpson possesses big-time speed. Glenbard North also lost a tight one last week. Senior two-way threat Angelo Gatses has scored nine touchdowns in four games. Gatses, who starts at cornerback and running back, rarely leaves the field as he also handles kick and punt return duties. Quarterback Logan Kramer has a pair of promising young receivers in sophomore Pierre Portis and junior Jamari Jenkins.
Geneva (3-1, 2-0) at Lake Park (1-3, 0-2)
When: Friday 7 p.m.
Last week: Geneva 28, WW South 26; Batavia 55, Lake Park 7
Last year: Geneva 35, Lake Park 17
Outlook: The Vikings’ offense, led by senior quarterback Ben Peterson (15 touchdown passes), senior receiver Bennett Konkey (11 touchdown receptions), and senior running back Nelson Wendell (77-yard average, five touchdowns), has scored at least 28 points in the first four games. Wendell, who starts on defense, also is a threat out of the backfield (38 yards receiving per game). Konkey, an Illinois commit, averages 185 yards receiving per contest. Lake Park gets the unenviable task of facing a strong Geneva offense one week after facing a high-flying Batavia team that featured a six-touchdown performance from quarterback Michael Vander Luitgaren. Lancers quarterback Tay Smith directs the offense.
Waubonsie Valley (2-2, 1-0) at Neuqua Valley (1-3, 0-1)

Metea Valley rallied from a 16-point deficit in the final nine-plus minutes to notch the school’s first victory over Neuqua Valley. Junior quarterback Iggy Amorrortu capped the comeback with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Larson (nine catches, 179 yards) with nine seconds remaining. Larson, last year’s starting quarterback for the Mustangs, had a pair of touchdown receptions.

Quarterback Tommy Bauman added a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, the Raiders collected a season-high four interceptions. The Rams rolled to victory against Elmwood Park behind Malachi Miller’s kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns, while sophomore quarterback Carter Pohlman tossed a 67-yard scoring strike to Mason Wright. The defense, anchored by middle linebacker Montii Perry, has not allowed a point over the past 10 quarters.

Outlook: First, the good news. Led by junior quarterback Robert Morales, junior receiver Jaden Romeus, and junior back Michael Clementi, the Blazers’ offense posted back-to-back, 42-point games the past two weeks. Now, the not-so-good-news. Addison Trail’s defense has allowed 111 points in losses to Downers Grove South and Hinsdale South, including several deep-ball passes for scores. Morales has thrown eight touchdown passes the past two weeks. Morton scored a season-high 40 points while recording its first win last week. Running back Sincere Larry enjoyed touchdown runs covering 40, 30, and 14 yards, respectively, against Proviso West, while quarterback Anthony Anderson tossed an 85-yard scoring pass.
Willowbrook (2-2, 1-1) at Hinsdale South (2-2, 2-0)

Hornets quarterback Benjamin Miller threw four touchdown passes — three to senior receiver Koby Armstrong — and added a pair of touchdown runs last week. Junior Nathan Navarro returned a kickoff 84 yards for another score, as the Hornets evened their overall mark while remaining undefeated in West Suburban Gold play.

Outlook: The Hilltoppers let a 14-3 second-quarter lead slip away during last week’s loss to unbeaten Downers Grove North. Keyante Johnson and AJ Rayford enjoyed long touchdown runs against the Trojans. Glenbard West can ill afford a second conference loss with three teams — Downers Grove North, York, and Lyons Township — currently unbeaten in the West Suburban Silver. Quarterback Brendan McCabe, tailback EJ Kuhlman, and 6-foot-5 tight end Owen Matela have fueled Lyons’ fast start. Defensively, the Lions rely on linebackers Nathan Fitzgerald, Cole Harris, Charlie Carlisle, and cornerback/safety Ian Collins. An interesting sidenote — Lyons continues to attempt unmakeable long field goal attempts rather than punt. Against Hinsdale Central, the Lions tried a field goal from their own 11-yard line.
Downers Grove South (3-1, 1-0) at Hinsdale Central (2-2, 0-1)

Outlook: Since dropping a 45-7 decision to crosstown rival Downers Grove North, the Mustangs have looked unbeatable on the offensive side with 97 points in back-to-back victories over Addison Trail and Willowbrook to open the West Suburban Gold slate. Senior workhorse tailback Forest Bates scored a pair of touchdowns last week, while junior quarterback James Sobkowiak completed 84% of his passes with three touchdowns. Defensively, Luke Potter, TJ Jackson, and Giovanni Vazquez lead the Mustangs. The Red Devils look to snap a two-game skid behind quarterback Beau Gatewood, who connected on long touchdown passes to Beau Knapp and George Zilliox against Lyons. This is a West Suburban crossover clash.
Proviso West (1-3, 0-2) at Downers Grove North (4-0, 2-0)

Outlook: The Trojans’ defense continues to excel, evidenced by last weekend’s performance against Glenbard West. Led by lineman Jacob Vroman, linebacker Brayden Bozek, and defensive backs Connor Crowley and Nathan Florey, the Trojans have allowed 33 points — eight per game. Offensively, quarterback Kevin Jay tossed touchdown passes to RayJon Johnson and Grant Georgas, sparking the Trojans’ rally from a 14-3 second-quarter deficit last week. Georgas iced the decision with a long touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Proviso West spotted Oak Park-River Forest a 21-0 first-quarter lead last weekend. Junior quarterback DJ Perry provided a highlight with a 10-yard touchdown run on the final play of the first half.

Georgas added a 49-yard touchdown in the first half, while Jackson Moskal had a 60-yard touchdown run and passed for another score with a second-half running clock. Oak Park-River Forest received a 37-yard pick-six from Emile Williams last week. Quarterback Liam Brown added a 25-yard touchdown pass to Norlan Davis. The Huskies gave defending Class 6A state champion Fenwick and Glenbard West all they could handle earlier this season.

Outlook: Since opening the season with wins against Aurora Central Catholic and St. Edward, Lisle has dropped back-to-back games against high-powered Coal City and Peotone. Junior quarterback Nathan Garcia, who averages 80 yards rushing per game, has scored five touchdowns, while junior JT Tumbarelli (team-high six touchdowns) is the Lions’ backfield workhorse. Senior linebacker Noah Nigro leads the defense, averaging 11 tackles per contest. Herscher, led by junior quarterback Dalton Grob and tailback Gaige Brown (90-yard average), has allowed 168 points in four games. Lisle is looking for its first win over Herscher since 2022.
Marist (2-2) at Marmion (2-2)

Outlook: Both teams enter this one coming off disappointing double-digit defeats. The Cadets fell behind St. Patrick 28-0 before managing a third-quarter score when quarterback Colin McEniry hit Aidan Miller for a nine-yard touchdown pass. Defensively, the Cadets must shore up a unit that allowed 275 rushing yards to the Shamrocks.
Aurora Christian (4-0, 2-0) at Kankakee McNamara (3-1, 2-0)

Two-way threat Jalen Callaway does it all for the Eagles. Last week, Callaway scored on a 60-yard touchdown run, caught a 51-yard screen pass for a touchdown, returned kickoffs and punts, and recorded an interception. The Fighting Irish feature senior athlete Malachi Lee (team-high six touchdowns, junior running back Rhys Landsmann (four TDs), and senior quarterback Micah Lee (five TD passes). Senior cornerback Rylan Barzantny leads the squad with three interceptions.
St. Charles North (2-2, 0-2) at Batavia (3-1, 2-0)

Outlook: Off to a fast start in DuKane Conference play, the Bulldogs have a little added incentive after wasting a 42-28 lead with 2:41 remaining during last year’s one-point loss to the North Stars. Senior quarterback Michael Vander Luitgaren, who passed for 324 yards and six touchdowns against Lake Park last week, already has 1,204 yards passing with 14 TDs in four games. Defensive back Loukas Vatianou recorded seven solo tackles against the Lancers. The North Stars were outscored 21-7 in the second half of last weekend’s loss to unbeaten Wheaton North. Big plays hurt the defense, as the Falcons connected on a 53-yard touchdown pass and returned a punt for a score. Senior tailback Tommy Vendl continues to be a workhorse for the North Stars, who are looking to snap a two-game skid.
McHenry (2-2, 2-2) at Jacobs (4-0, 4-0)

Outlook: The Golden Eagles flashed their resiliency last week, rallying from a 17-point deficit to beat Burlington Central. Quarterback Austin Stennett completed 19 of 31 passes for 263 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown strike to Owen Crouch. McHenry quarterback Jayden Linderman has thrown five touchdown passes in four games — three to junior wideout Robert Davis.
Huntley (4-0, 4-0) at Cary-Grove (3-1, 3-1)

Outlook: A grudge match between two heavyweights in the Fox Valley Conference. The Red Raiders had their three-game shutout streak snapped with a fourth-quarter touchdown for Crystal Lake South last weekend. Led by tailback Chase Hojnicki and quarterback Malik Carter, Huntley has outscored its opponents by a staggering 218-6 margin in four games. This figures to be a closer one, as the Trojans possess a three-game winning streak and will be playing on their home field. The running back tandem of Ty Tenopir and Leo Zavala combined for 339 yards and five touchdowns against McHenry last weekend.
Dundee-Crown (2-2, 2-2) at Hampshire (2-2, 2-2)

Since dropping a pair of games to first-place Huntley and Jacobs, Hampshire is back at the .500 mark following last weekend’s convincing win. Quarterback Griffin Chamberlain tossed five touchdown passes — three to Marquis Thurmand — against Prairie Ridge. Ivan Lechuga and Uriah Beamon added interceptions, while the Whip-Purs also recovered a pair of fumbles.
