Milwaukee shuts out Cougars to even playoff series
The Milwaukee Milkmen evened the East Division Championship series Tuesday with a 13-0 shutout of the Kane County Cougars. The best-of-five series is now tied at 1-1, with the two teams heading to Milwaukee for the next game.
Milwaukee jumped on Cougars starter Reese Sharp early, scoring twice in the first inning on a two-run double from Wendell Marrero. The Milkmen added two more in the third on RBI singles from Marrero and Griffin Doersching before adding another run in the fourth. Milwaukee’s offense continued to pile on in the fifth, scoring seven runs to break the game open.
While Milwaukee’s offense controlled the game, Christian Young kept the Cougars off the scoreboard. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out six over five shutout innings. Kane County managed only four hits and six walks.
The Cougars continue the best-of-five series at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Franklin Field in Franklin, Wis.
