BG Singers return to the stage with ‘Timeless’

The title of the BG Singers’ 31st choral concert — “Timeless” — is fitting.

The Buffalo Grove-based group has withstood the test of time for its vocal performances and community service.

The singers will take the stage at the Buffalo Grove Park District’s Scott Jacobson Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 and 3 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4.

Some timeless music will be featured, including highlights from “Jersey Boys,” an Andrew Lloyd Webber Medley, “Got to Get You Into My Life” by the Beatles and “Somebody to Love” by Queen.

Community service has been at the center of the BG Singers’ culture. Its projects have included putting ukuleles in the hands of hospitalized children, its 2023 project. Last year, for its 30th edition, the group featured “30 Acts of Kindness For 30 Years Of Song.”

This year, the “Chorus That Cares,” under the leadership of Lynn Garb, filled 60 backpacks with school supplies for students in need.

The group’s newest accompanist, cellist Oliver Mah, is among a group of young musicians that raise money to help children pursue music instruction. The Singers donated instruments to his group, “Musicians for Hope.”

Another BG Singer, Gary Hart, works with The People’s Music School, the largest tuition-free music school serving children in the Chicago area.

Tickets for the performance will be available online at bigdealproductions.org. Tickets for seniors (ages 62 and up) and children (ages 12 and under) are $17, and $21 for adults.
