Libertyville man gets 18-year sentence for possessing child sex abuse materials

A Libertyville man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison on charges he disseminated and possessed child sexual abuse material, state authorities said last week.

Kyle Ranallo, 27, was sentenced after pleading guilty in Lake County court to two counts of disseminating child sexual abuse material and one count of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the office of the Illinois attorney general.

“(The) sentencing represents justice for survivors and their families who have experienced the unimaginable trauma from child exploitation,” Attorney General Kwame Raoul said a statement. “They deserve to heal with peace of mind, knowing that our Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force holds these predators accountable.”

Ranallo was charged in May 2025, about eight months after attorney general and Illinois State Police investigators served a search warrant at his home in Libertyville and discovered evidence of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.

He had faced up to 30 years in prison if found guilty after a trial.
