Kane County Cougars move to 10 games over .500 with victory

Thanks to a great start by right-hander Vin Timpanelli, the Kane County Cougars claimed a 6-2 win over the Cleburne Railroaders on Friday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.

In his 19th start of the year, Timpanelli (4-8) provided one of his best outings. The Staten Island native worked six innings allowing just one run on four hits with five strikeouts against four walks. The win also improved the Cougars to 53-43, back to 10 games above .500.

Early in the game, Cleburne struck first. In the top of the third inning, Kevin Duran singled to lead off the frame before stealing second. Then Aaron Takacs looped a single into right field to score Duran and make it 1-0.

The Cougars quickly responded in the bottom of the third against Cleburne starter Scott Ellis (5-7). Armond Upshaw worked a two-out walk before stealing second. Josh Allen then poked a single into center field to score Upshaw and tie the game at one.
