Man’s body recovered from Fox River in Elgin Friday morning

Authorities say the body of a man was recovered early Friday morning from the Fox River in Elgin.

The Elgin Police Department said in a release that officers responded about 3:50 a.m. to the 200 block of North Grove Avenue and found the adult man’s body partly submerged on the riverbank.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed no indication of any injury or trauma to the man. The Kane County Coroner’s Office said in a separate release that an autopsy was performed and the preliminary cause of death is pending toxicology results.

Officials with the coroner’s office said they’re working with the police to determine the decedent’s identity. The investigation into the death remains ongoing.
