Elgin police investigating shooting that left man injured
Elgin police are investigating a shooting on the city’s east side Friday night that left a man injured.
According to police, officers were called to the 600 block of South Liberty Street at 8:48 p.m. Friday for a reported shooting. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, officials said. An update of his condition was not available.
A preliminary investigation indicates that online messaging had let to a meetup between those involved to purchase items, according to police.
