Endeavor Health partners with District 211 to provide sports medicine services to athletes
Endeavor Health and Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 have launched a new partnership providing sports medicine services and training support to student-athletes at all five district high schools.
The health care provider will dedicate eight certified athletic trainers to the health, safety and performance of athletes at Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg high schools.
The trainers will be an integral part of each school’s athletic program. Their duties include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and medical management.
A major part of the partnership will be District 211 athletes’ access to Endeavor Health’s Orthopaedic & Spine Institute. It is the only hospital in the state dedicated exclusively to orthopedic and spine care.
“Our goal is to ensure every student-athlete receives the highest level of care when they need it most,” said Dr. Joseph Lamplot, Orthopedic Sports Surgeon at Endeavor Health, in a statement. “By embedding athletic trainers within the schools and providing direct access to our sports medicine specialists, we are creating a seamless care experience that prioritizes student health, safety, and success.”
District 211 officials warmly welcomed the support of Endeavor Health professionals.
“This partnership strengthens our ability to provide student athletes with the high-quality care and support they need to safely participate and compete,” District 211 Director of Athletics and Activities Eric Wenckowski said in a statement. “Having dedicated athletic trainers in our schools, along with direct access to Endeavor Health’s network of sports medicine professionals, provides an important level of support for our students, coaches and families.”
Other aspects of the partnership include on-site injury evaluation, treatment and emergency medical decision-making. Endeavor Health provides team physician support at home football games and hosts postseason events as well as CPR certification classes for all District 211 coaches.
A Schaumburg High School football player reportedly suffered a severe injury in his team’s game in Antioch last Friday and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
District 211 officials said Wednesday that the student’s family has asked to keep the situation private and no update on his condition was immediately available.
Even beyond athletic care, the district’s partnership with Endeavor Health is intended to expand opportunities to address broader student and community health needs.
District 211 will support the partnership by featuring Endeavor Health on athletic venue signs and in digital communications and parent resources to ensure families are aware of available services.
