Sexual battery reported on Illinois Prairie Path in Elmhurst

Elmhurst police have issued a community alert regarding their investigation of a reported sexual battery Thursday night by a man riding an electric scooter with its headlight on against a woman running on the Illinois Prairie Path.

The battery occurred between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on the part of the path between York Street and the Pioneer Park area, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s wearing a red shirt, light colored cargo shorts and a black cap. He fled the scene riding his scooter west on Vallette Street from York Street.

A nearby public safety camera recorded the suspect and his last known direction. The public is asked to call 911 if they have information, including home security video, that may help identify him.
