Montini Catholic school year begins with a ‘Power of Storytelling’ theme

Montini Catholic's hallways were busy once again on Friday, Aug. 14, as the Lasallian college preparatory high school welcomed students back to school for the 61st year.

“We are off to a great start and there is much to be excited about,” said Principal Chris Tiritilli. “We look forward to watching the Class of 2027 lead us through our Bronco traditions while welcoming and getting to know the Class of 2030 as well as our newest faculty members.”

Montini’s Lasallian theme this year is “The Power of Storytelling.” According to Tiritilli, the theme reflects the Lombard school’s commitment to truly knowing and valuing one another.

“Through sharing and listening to stories, we hope to foster empathy, strengthen relationships, and create a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to grow.”

Montini students are part of a Lasallian community spanning 80 countries and currently educating over one million students worldwide.

Locally, Montini Catholic is a member of the Midwest District of The De La Salle Christian Brothers, which includes three universities and fourteen high schools. St. John Baptist de La Salle, a French cleric, founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the late 17th century. Named the Patron Saint of All Teachers, St. John Baptist de La Salle dedicated his life to providing a well-rounded, Christian education to students of all faiths.

In 1963, the De La Salle Christian Brothers were invited to sponsor and manage a new Catholic high school in the Lombard area, and in 1966, Montini Catholic opened its doors to 217 freshmen.

Today, Montini Catholic has graduated close to 8,000 Lasallians, who are a diverse group of individuals and are lifetime members of one unique community. The school consists of students from over 105 private and public grade schools in over 57 cities in the Chicago area.
