Don’t vote for ‘tax and spend’
Taxation without representation is what started this country over 250 years ago. It seems to me we’re right back where we started. Gov. Pritzker says he speaks for the people of Illinois; he does not. We are one of the most highly taxed states in the country. The real estate taxes make it so a retired person living in the same house for 40 years can barely afford to stay there.
The gas taxes are among the highest in the nation. Now they want to raise tolls on the highways. If you drive a car, they’ll tax the street. If you take a walk, they’ll tax your feet. If you add sales, income and all the other creative ways they find to tax you, I figure almost 40% of medium income goes to taxes.
It has to stop. The government cannot afford to give our hard-earned money to every cause or group they think is more deserving than us.
Stop it now. The choices we have for elected officials is really scraping the bottom. Is there anyone with common sense? We have an election coming up. Don’t vote for more tax and spend.
