SummerFest to take over downtown Grayslake Saturday

Enjoy music, food trucks, games and more in Historic Downtown Grayslake Village Center with Grayslake SummerFest Saturday, Aug. 15.

Presented by the Grayslake Area Chamber of Commerce, the event, formerly known as Grayslake Summer Days, will take place from 2 p.m. to midnight in parking lot G behind the Grayslake village hall and police department between South Whitney Street and Seymour Avenue, just south of Center Street.

The event will start with a parade at 2 p.m. in the Historic Downtown Grayslake Village Center traveling down Lake Street to Center Street. After the parade, the festival will feature live music, a beer tent sponsored by the Exchange Club of Grayslake and Ronald Hill Memorial VFW Post 2245, wine from Glunz Family Winery, food trucks and refreshment from College of Lake County, carnival games, a giant slide and more.

The musical lineup is scheduled to include the Summer Nights Battle of the Bands winner at 3 p.m., followed by School of Rock Libertyville at 4 p.m., Last One Standing at 5:30 p.m., The Red Roses at 6:30 p.m., Boy Mob at 8:30 p.m., and local favorite 7th heaven at 10:30 p.m.

Food trucks scheduled to take part include BBQ’d Productions, Dog n Suds, Serna’s Grill + Monster Gyros, Frozen Dreamz, and Supermacado San Judes.

Free parking within a short walk to the festival grounds will be available at multiple municipal lots in downtown Grayslake and along Center Street, Slusser Street, Hawley Street, Seymour Avenue and Whitney Street. Check posted signs for time limits. Center Street and other roads along the parade route will be temporarily closed during the parade.
