Libertyville GriefShare support group kicks off Aug. 12

The United Methodist Church of Libertyville will once again offer GriefShare, a weekly community group for those facing the challenges of loss and working to rebuild their lives.

The community is invited to participate in GriefShare, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 429 Brainerd Ave.

GriefShare, which meets weekly through Nov. 4, provides a safe, welcoming place for those seeking support in understanding the difficult emotions of grief, alongside a caring group of people. UMCL has offered GriefShare for more than five years, and this marks the tenth session offered to the community.

"We’re grateful to be able to offer this resource to the community and to provide a vital connection for people who are dealing with the loss of a loved one," said Erin Mayes, GriefShare leader.

Over 13 weeks, participants will learn what to expect after loss and explore helpful ways to cope with grief in a supportive environment. All are welcome to join the GriefShare group at any time — participants do not have to wait for a new group to start, nor do they have to be church members to attend. All participants will receive a free workbook at their first meeting.
