Suburban business owner gets 15 months in prison for failing to pay taxes

A business owner from the Northwest suburbs was sentenced last week to 15 months in federal prison on charges he failed to pay the government more than $1 million in payroll taxes.

George Dilles, 55, also was ordered to pay about $1.2 million in restitution, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced.

Dilles pleaded guilty in April to one count of failure to truthfully account for and pay employment taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

According to the plea agreement, Dilles failed to pay in tax years 2019 through 2023, when he was the president and part-owner of NG Enterprises, Inc., a company providing home care to Milwaukee-area seniors.

Dilles instead used some of the funds on personal expenses, including mortgage payments and purchases of Maserati and McLaren automobiles, according to prosecutors. He also used employment tax returns, which he had not filed with the IRS, to obtain a Paycheck Protection Program loan in the amount of $312,500, authorities said.

“This was not a mistake or oversight. The defendant was alerted by his accounting firm repeatedly that he needed to submit these tax payments but ignored the warnings and used the money to finance a luxurious lifestyle,” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad D. Schimel said in last week’s announcement.
