DuPage Forest Preserve District’s green initiatives featured at Lombard Garden Club meeting

DuPage Forest Preserve District President Dan Hebreard will offer an in-depth overview of the district and the many benefits it brings to DuPage County residents and visitors at the next Lombard Garden Club meeting.

The meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road in Lombard. There is no charge and the public is welcome to attend.

Hebreard has worked for the district for over 20 years. His background includes a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation and Facilities Management from the University of Illinois and an MBA degree from Benedictine University.

Besides the trees, prairies, wetlands and habitats found throughout its 26,000 acres, the district has been a leader in using alternative fuels and introducing green, sustainable initiatives. Hebreard and his family fully support such initiatives, evidenced by their home being entirely powered by solar energy.

The Lombard Garden Club, celebrating 100 years in 2026, promotes an interest in gardening and the beautification of the landscape in our community. Programs featuring its history and place in the community will occur during the year. The club welcomes fellow gardeners who enjoy learning opportunities and the company of others.
