Hoffman Estates to host 25th anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony

The Hoffman Estates Veterans Memorial Commission invites the community to gather in reflection and unity on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The commission’s annual Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony, “What Does it Mean to Never Forget?” will honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

All are welcome to attend the ceremony.

This year’s program will feature heartfelt reflections from Hoffman Estates Fire Lt. Justin Schuenke, Hoffman Estates Police Sgt. Bryant Savage and U.S. Army veteran Jackson Lanners.

The ceremony will also include stirring musical performances by The Salvation Army Band Ensemble.
