Seven-vehicle pileup in Batavia leaves one driver injured

One driver was injured and another cited after a seven-vehicle pileup snarled Monday morning along Randall Road in Batavia, authorities said.

According to Batavia police, the crash occurred at about 6:53 a.m. when a Chevrolet Malibu sedan traveling north on Randall near Main Street struck the rear of a Kia Sportage SUV.

The Chevrolet then crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Hyundai Tucson SUV, police said. That sent the Hyundai spinning into the northbound lane, where it hit two Ford F150 pickup trucks and a Peterbilt semitrailer truck, police said.

A Lotus Evora sports car that was driving behind the Hyundai Tucson swerved to avoid the collision and sustained damage from crash debris.

The 50-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old man driving the Chevrolet was issued a citation for improper lane usage, police said.
