Cook forest preserves photo contest open for submissions

The Forest Preserves of Cook County's 2026 Photo Contest is now open, with the agency accepting submissions through Aug. 16.

Photographers are invited to share their up to five of their best images from the more than 70,000 acres that make up the forest district, including Brookfield Zoo and Chicago Botanic Garden.

Fifteen winning photographs will be featured in the forest preserves' 2027 wall calendar, social media channels and other publications. Photos should feature forest preserve landscapes, plants, insects, birds or other wildlife, and people enjoying the outdoors.

Winning photographers will receive 10 copies of the 2027 calendar and a prize package of forest preserves swag and experiences. There is no fee to enter. Contest rules, category information, submission requirements and voting details are available at fpdcc.com/photocontest.
