Thief nets $150 in quick-change scam in Des Plaines

A thief made off with $150 after pulling a quick-change scam at a Des Plaines grocery store, police said Monday.

The theft was reported about 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Jimenez International, 1565 Lee St.

The scammer exchanged cash with an employee at a register several times before leaving, police said in a news release.

The thief was described as tall and heavy set. He wore a white T-shirt and khaki shorts, police said.
