Aurora police seek help in identifying SUV involved in pedestrian hit-and-run last month

Aurora police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian last month.

According to a news release from the Aurora Police Department, the crash took place at about 10:13 p.m. on June 24 in the 100 block of Ridgeway Avenue.

Investigators say the pedestrian was lying in the road on Ridgeway Avenue when an SUV traveling eastbound struck him and continued from the scene.

A witness reported seeing the dark-colored vehicle continue eastbound on Ridgeway Avenue before turning southbound onto Lake Street.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released and continues to recover from his injuries.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area and obtained surveillance video from several locations, but have not yet identified the SUV. The department has released surveillance video showing the SUV believed to have been involved in the crash traveling eastbound on Ridgeway Avenue moments before the collision.
