Lake Villa man charged with possessing child sex abuse materials

A Lake Villa man is charged with possession of child sex abuse materials following an investigation by the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Christian J. Phillips, 33, was arrested Monday and was still listed as a Lake County jail inmate following a Tuesday afternoon detention hearing.

According to a news release by the sheriff’s office, detectives were alerted that an electronic device inside a home on the 39100 block of North Rustic Drive near Lake Villa was being used to share child sex abuse materials.

Investigators seized a phone in the home during a search and discovered dozens of images and videos of child sex abuse materials on the device. Detectives learned the phone belonged to Phillips, a resident of the home.
