Trump is right to stop the bully Iran

The question is often asked, “Are Trump’s actions against Iran justified?” Most Democrats, some Republicans will say no.

Susan Estrich, the Daily Herald’s anti-Trump columnist, calls it an unpopular war. To state why it is justified, let me use an analogy of what a bully is and why you must stop a bully.

A bully is someone who uses aggression, coercion or intimidation to hurt, threaten or control others, especially those perceived as weaker and more vulnerable. Iran is a bully.

Iran has been saying death to America and Israel for 47 years. Iran has been funding terrorist groups in the Middle East that have caused chaos, death and destruction — Hezbollah, Houthis, Hamas, Islamic Jihad.

Iran was trying to build a nuclear weapon that could have killed millions. Iran was building an arsenal of destructive missiles and drones. Iran was interrupting the free flow of oil to the rest of the world, creating havoc in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran was brutalizing, killing its own people.

Is that enough to convince you that Iran was a bully of the greatest magnitude? Isn’t that enough to take action to neutralize Iran for the sake of humanity and world peace?

The U.S. military has neutralized Iran’s air defense, navy and air force. Trump has tried to end this conflict, but Iranian leadership is next to impossible to work with, so the bombing has continued and should continue until they truly come to the table and want peace.

Our country should support what he is doing with Iran.

Since the Iran conflict has started, only a few lives have been lost in our all-volunteer military. Past adversaries such as Syria, Iraq are having friendly conversations with the United States. Now is not the time to pull back. It’s the time to continue to what is necessary to once and for all stop the bully.
