Rally promoting voter turnout brings ‘Good Trouble’ to Arlington Heights

A 34-foot-tall inflatable depicting President Donald Trump as a chicken was displayed prominently near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Arlington Heights Road during a noon “Good Trouble” rally at the Clock Tower plaza in downtown Arlington Heights Saturday.

The Chicago Northwest suburbs chapter of Indivisible, Northwest Suburbs Organizing for Action (NWSOFA) hosted the rally, which was attended by approximately 50 people at the start.

In promotional material sent ahead of the event, organizers said the protest was inspired by the late civil rights leader John Lewis, with aims to galvanize community members around the critical importance of voting in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Emphasizing the late John Lewis message of 'Good Trouble,' the rally will encourage activism and participation in the electoral process,” the news release said.

Musicians and speakers also took part in the two-hour long rally.
