Naperville house sustains $70,000 in damage from basement fire

Naperville Fire Department officials said a fire Wednesday morning originating in the basement of a home on the 200 block of Cedarbrook Road caused an estimated $70,000 in damage.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

Firefighters reported smoke showing from the house when they responded just after 7:30 a.m. Residents had already exited the home before firefighters arrived.

While the fire was confined to the basement, it did render the home uninhabitable, fire officials said.

The cause remains under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental.
