Arlington Heights man charged with firing gun in Buffalo Grove parking lot

An Arlington Heights man faces felony charges alleging he fired a gunshot that struck a vehicle in the parking lot of a Buffalo Grove apartment complex over the weekend, authorities said.

Ernie Dotson, 38, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated domestic battery and unlawful possession of a firearm, Buffalo Grove police said.

According to police, the shooting occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday at The Arbors apartments on Oak Creek Drive. Police allege Dotson pulled a gun and fired it at someone in the parking lot.

No injuries were reported and the gun was recovered at the scene, according to police.

Dotson appeared in court Sunday and remains in the Cook County jail pending his next scheduled court date on Aug. 7.

A juvenile also detained at the scene Saturday was released without charges, police said.
