Fox Valley Special Recreation Association hosts annual Day in the Park for campers
Fox Valley Special Recreation Association hosted a Day in the Park on Wednesday at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles, bringing together more than 1,000 campers of all abilities from FVSRA’s Summer Day Camp and seven local park districts for a day of recreation, friendship, and community.
Now in its 28th year, the event is one of the Fox Valley's largest inclusive summer recreation events, celebrating the power of play and partnerships that make recreation accessible to everyone.
Groups that participated are FVSRA Summer Day Camp, Batavia Park District, Fox Valley Park District, Geneva Park District, Oswegoland Park District, St. Charles Park District, Sugar Grove Park District, and the South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department.
The event was presented with sponsorship support from the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club, St. Charles Golden K Kiwanis Club, Batavia Rotary Club, Aurora Rotary Club, and Knights of Columbus — Aurora.
Community volunteers for the event came from Northwestern Medicine, the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club, the St. Charles Golden K Kiwanis Club, Oswegoland Park District, and the offices of state Reps. Maura Hirschauer and Barbara Hernandez.
