St. Mark’s Lutheran Church launches ‘Holy Grounds’ coffee ministry in Aurora

St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Aurora will debut “Holy Grounds,” a coffee ministry, on July 11-12.

The new ministry will precede and follow worship services at 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora. The intergenerational fellowship team is the sponsor. Coffee is free but donations will be accepted.

A grant from the church endowment team funded purchase of a Bunn commercial coffee brewer. Donations from congregants purchased coffee and a serving cart.

“Organic Mind, Body, & Soul” regular coffee and decaffeinated “Full City Roast” will be served. Organic is a blend of light and dark roasts with mellow smooth tasting notes of milk chocolate, vanilla and nutty. Full City is smooth and balanced with flavor notes of sweet, brown sugar and golden raisin.

Ground coffee for the ministry is being purchased from Equal Exchange (Fair Traded). Equal Exchange (equal exchange.coop) trades with small farmer co-ops, supports farmer-led innovative programs and builds a democratic food system that includes the voice and participation of all people in the supply chain.

The intergenerational fellowship team plans to sell Equal Exchange ground coffee and chocolate bars to help the coffee ministry become self-sustaining. Call (630) 897-6891 for more information.
