No injuries reported from gas leak in South Elgin
There were no injuries reported from a natural gas leak Tuesday in South Elgin, officials said.
The leak was reported around 12:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Martin Drive, according to a report from the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District. Responding crews found the active gas leak between two industrial buildings and requested a hazmat response.
Nicor arrived on scene just before 1 p.m. and secured the gas leak in about an hour. Fire crews continued to monitor the buildings and then let the occupants re-enter, the release stated.
Martin was closed between Sundown Road and Division Street while crews were on scene.
