Lords Park Summer Concert Series features the Outset Trio on July 13

On Monday, July 13, the Lords Park Summer Concert Series continues with the Outset Trio. The program includes music by composer Mark O’Connor, whose works combine bluegrass, country, jazz, and classical.

The Outset Trio, which features a violin, viola, and double bass, has been playing together in various forms around the Chicago area for over a decade. They met during their fellowship at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and were inspired by their mentor Yo-Yo Ma to perform and pursue this trio project.

These free concerts are noon to 1 p.m. at Lords Park Zoo, 325 Hiawatha Drive in Elgin.

The series wraps up on Aug. 3 with Arcomusical, an ensemble that reimagines the Afro-Brazilian berimbau through chamber music. Their repertoire ranges from solos to sextets to concerti.

The Lords Park Summer Concert Series is an opportunity to enjoy a variety of live music on a summer afternoon. Bring a picnic lunch, a blanket and lawn chairs to enjoy these classical outdoor concerts under the bucolic shade of Tefft Farm’s trees. All ages are welcome.
