Two Palatine men arrested after investigation finds drugs, firearms, body armor, fireworks

Two men face a series of felony charges after Palatine police and state and federal investigators recovered a cache of drugs, firearms, body armor and fireworks, authorities said.

Edgar Garcia Martinez, 20, and Andres Garcia, 35, both of the 0-100 block of East Dundee Quarter, Palatine, are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Both were arrested after Palatine police, with the assistance of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, searched their home as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

The search yielded suspected ecstasy, cocaine, mushrooms, cannabis and Xanax. Also recovered were THC vape cartridges, multiple firearms, body armor, military-style ballistic helmets, fireworks and a large amount of cash.

Both are charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of firearm ammunition without a valid FOID card.

Garcia Martinez is also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon while in possession of body armor, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of fireworks.

Garcia is also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a loaded firearm.
