Document shredding event July 25 in Des Plaines

Illinois Sen. Laura Murphy will be hosting a shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25, to give residents the opportunity to dispose of documents containing personal information.

The event will take place in the parking lot of Acuity Brands Lighting, 1300 S. Wolf Road in Des Plaines. Residents should enter the parking lot from Wolf Road.

Examples of documents with personally identifiable information that should be safely discarded include bank statements, outdated medical records, tax returns, utility bills, junk mail, credit card applications and receipts.
