Carpentersville man changing tire on I-80 killed by hit-and-run driver

Illinois State Police said a Carpentersville man who had stopped to change a tire on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near Lansing was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as 23-year-old Sebastian D. Stone. An autopsy is slated for Thursday.

State police officials said Stone was on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of I-80 near Torrance Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle just before 5:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
