Culver’s team members volunteer at Northern Illinois Food Bank, pack 17,000 pounds of food
When it comes to serving their communities, local Culver’s team members are proving that their commitment extends far beyond the drive-through window.
In June, 23 employees from three Culver’s restaurants in Lake County rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at Northern Illinois Food Bank’s North Suburban Center in Lake Forest, helping prepare food for neighbors facing hunger across the region.
Team members from the following locations participated in the volunteer outing.
• Culver’s of Libertyville, 803 E. Park Ave., Libertyville
• Culver’s of Mundelein, 220 Oak Creek Plaza, Mundelein
• Culver’s of Waukegan, 850 S. Waukegan Road, Waukegan
Together, the volunteers packed an impressive 34 pallets of food, preparing more than 17,000 pounds of food that will help provide approximately 14,000 meals for neighbors in need throughout Northern Illinois.
The volunteer event made a lasting impression on participants, including Zack DeFlorio, owner of Culver’s of Waukegan.
“Our team members had a blast volunteering,” DeFlorio said. “This outing at the Food Bank will definitely be something that we plan on doing every year.”
Northern Illinois Food Bank leaders say volunteer groups like Culver’s are essential to helping meet the growing need for food assistance across the region.
“We are grateful for the Culver’s team for volunteering at the Food Bank and standing with us in the fight against hunger,” said Colleen Ahearn, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Northern Illinois Food Bank. “Their dedication and willingness to give back demonstrates the power of community partnerships and the impact we can make when we come together to support our neighbors.”
By dedicating just a few hours of service, the Culver’s team made a meaningful impact that will reach thousands of local families, children, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
