Man accused of brandishing a weapon in Villa Park

A man faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges after a confrontation in a Villa Park neighborhood Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Police responded to the 700 block of East Madison Street about 3:45 p.m. where a man complained that while he was urinating on the street, a resident approached and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him.

Investigators found the suspect quickly and “took him into custody without incident,” officials said.

Police also obtained a search warrant and found a number of replica BB guns at the suspect’s home.

He also is charged with disorderly conduct.

Authorities had not released the man’s name as of Saturday afternoon.
