Chicago Dogs split doubleheader with Gary SouthShore Railcats

After a rainout on Wednesday, the Chicago Dogs and Gary SouthShore Railcats finished their four-game set at the Steel Yard on Thursday with a doubleheader. The first game was dominated by pitching on both ends, but Gary ended up on top, finishing a 2-1 win. Chicago flipped the script on the RailCats in the second game, taking a 2-1 win of their own.

In odd fashion, the second game went to extra innings, yet it was pitching that again prevailed, this time in the Dogs favor.

Regi Grace pitched a stellar game, tossing six innings of one-run ball. He walked just two, allowed only four hits and kept the Gary offense to just one run, which it scored in the third inning on a Cooper Weiss home run. Grace was backed up by Austin Eaton, who was dominant in two scoreless innings, walking just one, allowing just one hit. Eaton eventually earned the win, as he came in with the game tied in the seventh and finished the job in the eighth.

In Game 1, Steven Lacey allowed just two runs, both of which came in the fourth. He allowed seven hits, two walks and struck out two.
