Chicago man charged in Barrington shop robbery
A Chicago man was arrested after an investigation into a December robbery in Barrington, officials said.
Cortney J. Shivers, 32, faces one felony count of burglary, according to a news release from the Barrington Police Department. He was arrested at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton, taken to the Barrington Police Department and released on a signature bond by police.
Officers responded to Restyle Designers Barrington on Dec. 28, 2025, for a reported robbery, the release stated. The business reported more than $106,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen.
After the investigation, detectives determined that Shivers had been at the business the day before the robbery to conduct surveillance; he joined other suspects on the day of the robbery.
The case is still under investigation, and more people may be charged, the release said. No information about Shivers next court date was immediately available.
