Special season for Sox
So far it has been a great baseball season for the Chicago White Sox. After three consecutive years of losing more than 100 games, they are now relevant in the division and wild card playoff races. The enthusiasm of the fans is positive and attendance is outpacing previous years. Even the press is showing more attention to them.
On Aug. 8, the Sox will be honoring the manager of the 2005 Sox, Ozzie Gullien, with his No. 13 jersey being retired. There will be a pregame ceremony with local dignitaries and former players being included. To really honor Ozzie and the entire Sox organization, they should try and get the No. 1 Sox fan to be included. Why not have Pope Leo XIV congratulate Ozzie while also throwing out the ceremonial first pitch via Zoom?
That would really make the day special and get the Sox worldwide positive attention. The Sox could be adding fans across the world.
