Barrington approves $10,000 raise for village manager
Barrington Village board members recently approved a $10,000 raise for Village Manager Scott Anderson.
“He’s been doing a great job,” Village President Mike Moran said. “We’ve got a lot of momentum in this village. We’ve got a lot of projects, a lot of things we’re trying to do. He’s helping to lead that charge.”
Anderson’s base salary was increased from $250,000 to $260,000, effective this month.
It is part of an employment agreement that runs through May 2029, but the board approves the raise as a formality each year.
Key terms include a $15,000 performance bonus to be paid by the end of this month.
Anderson also receives a $6,000 annual vehicle allowance and a $50 monthly stipend for use of his personal cellphone for work purposes.
The village also pays dues to the International City/County Management Association and the Illinois City/County Management Association, along with travel costs for up to two in-state and one out-of-state professional development conferences per year.
Under the agreement, Anderson remains an at-will employee. If the board terminates him for reasons other than misconduct, he is entitled to severance equal to 20 weeks of his base salary plus payment for accrued vacation and personal time.
Unless the village board allows a shorter notice period, Anderson must give the village president at least 60 days written notice if he decides to resign, in which case he would not receive severance aside from accrued vacation and personal days.
Anderson has served as Barrington's village manager since 2019.
“I appreciate the support and the confidence of the board,” he said, adding he is looking forward to a year of exciting projects, while also crediting his “exceptional” staff.
