Fire in Aurora Thursday displaces three residents

No one was hurt, but three people were displaced following a fire Thursday afternoon in Aurora.

According to the Aurora Fire Department, firefighters responded at about 12:10 p.m. to the 600 block of Front Street to find heavy fire conditions on the second floor of a 2½-story, three-unit residential building, with smoke and fire extending into the attic.

Firefighters initially thought an occupant may have been inside the structure, but a search confirmed no people or animals were present. The fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes of the initial 911 call.

Officials say the rear apartment unit on the upper floor sustained the most significant damage. The building was deemed uninhabitable due to fire damage, and three adults were displaced. The property owner is assisting the tenants with temporary housing arrangements.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
