65-year-old man charged in Des Plaines road-rage shooting
A suburban man remained jailed Thursday following a road-rage shooting on the Tri-State Tollway near Des Plaines, Illinois State Police said.
Victor M. Fernandez, 65, of the 5500 block of Lincoln Avenue in Morton Grove, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm.
The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Monday on northbound I-294 near Touhy Avenue. Fernandez fired a weapon at the victim’s vehicle from his own auto, police said.
The shot missed and no injuries were reported, police said.
State police said troopers quickly identified Fernandez’s vehicle and shared the information with local police. With help from Morton Grove police, troopers located Fernandez at his home that night and arrested him.
The Cook County state’s attorney’s office approved the felony charge Wednesday.
