Police identify man found in Palatine pond

Palatine police have released the identity of the man who died after entering a pond at the Twin Lakes Golf Course & Recreation Area in Palatine Monday evening.

Police said the man was 34-year-old Marcale D. Cole, whose last known address was in Melrose Park.

No further information about the investigation was released.

Police said they responded along with Illinois State Police at approximately 6:11 p.m. to the 1200 block of East Twin Lakes Drive for a report of a suspicious person.

Officers and troopers located an individual matching that person’s description and attempted to make contact with him.

The man entered the pond and did not resurface, police said.

The Palatine Fire Department initiated rescue efforts, and the man was located in the water. He was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

Investigators were on the scene Tuesday. Meanwhile, the facility, which was closed in response to the incident, reopened that day.
