Bicyclist dead after being struck by freight train in Grayslake
A female bicyclist was struck and killed by a freight train in Grayslake Tuesday night.
The collision occurred just after 8:15 p.m. at a crossing near the entrance to Central Park on North Lake Street, just south of the Hillside Avenue intersection, according to Metra officials.
The crossing is outfitted with arms to prevent motorists from driving through when a train is approaching.
The bicyclist has not been identified.
Metra officials said the woman was struck by a Canadian National freight train.
