Wayne Historical Preservation Society receives grant for restoration work at Wayne Depot

The Wayne Historical Preservation Society has received a $2,600 Landmarks Illinois grant to help pay for the installation of an ADA-required chairlift at the Wayne Depot, a former train depot built in 1884 for the Chicago and North Western Railroad. The structure is being restored as a community gathering space.

The grant was one of seven awarded to preservation projects across the state. Landmarks Illinois is an organization that provides critical seed funding to nonprofit organizations and local governments restoring culturally and historically significant places in their communities.
