Two people arrested after carjacking in Elgin
Two people were arrested in connection with the carjacking of a woman in Elgin, according to the Elgin Police Department.
Anthony Tyson and Nichole Pino, both 37 and from Elgin, approached the unnamed victim while she was inside her car on the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard at around 12:15 p.m. Monday, according to a police report. Tyson showed a firearm and told the victim to exit the vehicle. Both Tyson and Pino then got in the car and drove away, according to police.
The vehicle was spotted by officers in Bartlett and Villa Park, but they were not able to successfully stop it. Officers were finally able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Springfield Avenue in Chicago, and both occupants were arrested, police said.
Tyson was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, and one count each of aggravated vehicular hijacking, armed violence, unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Pino was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
